Description

In der alten Kriemhild Muehle in Xanten wird seit 1992 wieder Getreide gemahlen und in der angeschlossenen Backstube zu Vollwertbrot und Kuchen verarbeitet. Das Getreide kommt aus kontrolliert bioloischem Anbau und in der Muehle werden noch andere Bioprodukte in dem kleinen Muehlenladen verkauft. Die Muehle funktioniert wieder mit Segeln, Holzzahnraedern und Mahlsteinen und ist bei Wind in Betrieb. Die Stadt Xanten, die einzige deutsche Stadt die mit einem X anfaengt, liegt am unteren Niederrhein in Nordwesten Nordrhein-Westfalen und ist eine kreisangehoerige Stadt des Kreises Wesel sowie Mitglied der Euregio Rhein-Waal. Die Roemer-, Dom- und Siegfriedstadt Xanten blickt auf eine ueber 2000-jaehrige Geschichte zurueck. Ihre Anfaenge liegen in der Errichtung von Castra Vetera und der Colonia Ulpia Traiana im Roemischen Reich und setzen sich fort mit der Gruendung des Stifts St. Viktor im 8. Jahrhundert. Nach Eroeffnung des Archaeologischen Parks und des Freizeitzentrums wurd Xanten 1988 zum ersten staatlich anerkannten Erholungsort im Regierungsbezirk Duesseldorf.
