Description

Im Nordosten der Innenstadt von Hof an der Saale in Bayern liegt der Bürgerpark Theresienstein. Die Anfänge der Parkanlage reichen bis 1816 zurück. Damit ist der Theresienstein einer der ersten Bürgerparks in Deutschland. Benannt ist der Park nach Königin Therese Charlotte, der Gemahlin des bayerischen Königs Ludwig I. Maßgeblichen Einfluss auf die Gestaltung der Anlage hatte von 1861 bis 1899 der Hofer Stadtbaurat Johann Gottlob Thomas. Der Theresienstein war 1994 in die bayerische Landesgartenschau in Hof einbezogen. Im Jahre 2003 wurde der Park mit dem Titel Schönster Park Deutschlands ausgezeichnet.
