Description

Die Kunstwerke sind in Marl nicht hinter Museumsmauern verborgen, sondern zu einem grossen Teil in das Alltagsleben der Stadt einbezogen. Mehr als 70 Aussenarbeiten von Arp bis Zadkine stehen im oeffentlichen Raum um das Rathaus. Im Mittelpunkt der Sammlung stehen Skulpturen der klassischen Moderne und der zeitgenoessischen Kunst im Glaskasten, dem Skulpturenmuseum, das unter dem Sitzungstrakt des Rathauses untergebracht ist. Der Name Sklupturenmuseum Glaskasten beschreibt zum einen die Oertlichkeit: den ganz mit Glas umbauten Raum, zum anderen aber auch das inhaltliche Konzept von Offenheit und Transparenz.
