An der Südwestseite von Lanzarote liegt die bizarre Felsküste Los Hervideros zwischen dem Fischerdorf El Golfo und Salinas de Janubio. An der Westseite Lanzarotes zeigt sich der Atlantische Ozean von seiner besonders ungestümen Seite. Die starke Brandung bietet beste Voraussetzungen für die herannahenden Wellen, sich durch die Felsspalten zu zwängen und als meterhohe Fontänen in die Luft zu schießen. Dass die Lavafelsen teilweise eingebrochen und ausgehöhlt sind, ist ebenfalls der Brandung zu verdanken. Im Hintergrund beeindrucken die hohen Vulkankrater des Timanfaya-Gebirges.
