Description
Right of it, there is Tenzing Peak (formerly known as Ngozumpa Kang I) named after Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, one of the two men, who are believed to reach the summit of Mount Everest in 1953, as the very first people. The mountain dedicated to the other of the two men, Sir Edmund Hillary, is further to the right (Hillary Peak). It is hardly visible in this photograph (just to the left of the prayer flags). Ngozumpa Kang II is located between the two peaks, on the same ridge, which has another prominent high point on Gyachung Kang, the world's highest mountain below 8000 m, visible here on the right-hand side of this image. Mahalangur Himal, Sagarmatha National Park, Khumbu Region (the Everest Region). Solukhumbu, Nepal.
