Edinburgh of the Seven Seas is the only settlement of the island of Tristand da Cunha, a part of the British Overseas Territory St. Helena, Ascension and Tristand da Cunha in the South Atlantic Ocean. Edinburgh of the Seven Seas is regarded as the most remote permanent settlement on Earth, located over 1,500 miles (2,400 kilometres) from the nearest human settlement, on St. Helena. The highest point is the summit of a volcano called Queen Mary’s Peak at an elevation of 2,062 metres.
