Description

Das August Horch Museum ist ein 1988 eröffnetes Automobilmuseum in Zwickau. Auf der 6500 m2 großen Ausstellungsfläche werden ca.160 Automobile und eine Vielzahl von Kleinexponaten zur Geschichte des Automobilbaus in Zwickau gezeigt. Kurzform zur Geschichte: August Horch gründete 1904 in Zwickau die "August Horch Motorenwagenwerke AG". 1915 erfolgte die Umwandlung in "Audiwerke AG Zwickau". 1931 wurde die "Auto Union AG" gegründet, in welcher neben der Automobilabteilung von Wanderer auch DKW, Horch und Audi aufgingen. Die Produktlinie vom Leichtmotorrad bis zum luxoriösen PKW der Oberklasse war sehr erfolgreich. In Zwickau befand sich auch die Rennabteilung der Auto Union, die mit dem Rennfahrer Bernd Rosemeyer 1935 - 1938 große Erfolge bei Autorennen und bei Geschwindigkeitsrekorden erzielte.
