The metal recycling plant „DK Recycling und Roheisen GmbH“, formerly Duisburger Kupferhütte, was founded in 1876 as a merger of ten companies of the chemical industry in Duisburg. DK describes itself as the world's largest recycler of ferrous residues of the steel industry and European market leader for foundry pig iron. DK now operates almost 100,000 tons of iron ore and has a sintering plant and two blast furnaces.
