Die Bergstation "Rifugio Sapienza" befindet sich auf der südlichen Seite des Ätna in etwa 1900 Meter Höhe. Ab hier fährt die Seilbahn „Funivia dell'Etna“ weiter zur Bergstation "La Montagnola" auf 2504 m Höhe. Der Ätna ist mit 3323 Meter der höchste und aktivste Vulkan Europas. Er liegt auf der italienischen Insel Sizilien in der Nähe von Catania und Messina. Am 21. Juni 2013 hat die UNESCO den Ätna in die Liste des Weltnaturerbes aufgenommen, Sizilien, Italien, Europa | The hill station "Rifugio Sapienza" is located on the southern side of Mount Etna in about 1900 meters height.
