Description
Vicuña (Vicugna vicugna) or vicugna is wild South American camelid, which live in the high alpine areas of the Andes. It is a relative of the llama. It is understood that the Inca valued vicuñas for their wool. The vicuña is the national animal of Peru and Bolivia. The photo was taken on the road through the Andes near the inactive stratovolcano Chimborazo, in the Cordillera Occidental of the Andes of central Ecuador.
