Der Urweltmammutbaum (Metasequoia glyptostroboides), auch Chinesisches Rotholz oder Wassertanne genannt, gilt als lebendes Fossil. Er wurde 1941 in einer unzugänglichen Bergregion in China entdeckt und war zuvor nur durch Fossilienfunde bekannt. Diese Aufnahme entstand im Botanischen Volkspark in Berlin-Pankow. - The Dawn Redwood tree (Metasequoia glyptostroboides) is an living fossil. He was discovered in China in an inaccessible mountain region in 1941. This photo was made in the Botanic Volkspark in Pankow in Berlin, the German capital.
