Description
Das Rhode Island State House ist das Capitol des US-Bundesstaates Rhode Island, „The Ocean State“. Es liegt in Landeshauptstadt Providence am Smith Hill. Das Gebäude ist erbaut im neoklassizistischen Baustil. Es beherbergt unter anderem die General Assembly und die Büros des Gouverneurs von Rhode Island sowie des Vizegouverneurs, State Library und den State Room. Das Gebäude ist im National Register of Historic Places eingetragen. Auf der Kuppel steht die vergoldete Bronzestatue des „Independent Man“ bzw. ursprünglich „Hope". Die Statue steht für Freiheit und Unabhängigkeit.
