Knicks sind von Gehölzen bewachsene, meist künstlich errichtete Erd- oder Steinwälle, die Felder und Wiesen säumen. Solche Wallhecken sind besonders in Norddeutschen noch weit verbreitet und prägen dort vielfach das Landschaftsbild. In regelmäßigem Abstand werden einzelne Bäume, sog. Überholter, stehengelassen. - A Kink or Hedged bank (in German: Knick) is a woody overgrown, mostly artificially built earth or stone wall. They are still widespread, especially in Northern Germany. The kinks provide a habitat for many different plants and animals.
