Description

Der Rhein-Herne-Kanal ist eine 45,6 Kilomter lange kuenstliche Wasserstrasse mit fuenf Schleusen im Ruhrgebiet. Die Bauzeit von 1906 bis 1914 betrug acht Jahre. Der Kanal verbindet den Rhein in Duisburg mit dem Dortmund-Ems-Kanal. Das Heizkraftwerk Herne ist ein Steinkohlekraftwerk der Evonik Industries, vormals STEAG. Es befindet sich in Baukau, einem Stadtteil von Herne in Nordrhein Westfalen und beschaeftigt rund 250 Mitarbeiter.
