Description

Die Zeche Nachtigall ist nicht nur eine der ersten Tiefbauzechen, sondern um 1850 auch eine der groessten Grubenanlagen des Reviers gewesen. Nach der Stillegung 1892 siedelte sich auf dem Gelaende eine Ziegelei an, die 1963 schliesst. Im Mai 2003 wurde der heutige Standort des LWL-Industriemuseums nach Restaurierung der denkmalgeschuetzten Zechen- und Ziegeleigebaeude eroeffnet. Die Zeche Nachtigall liegt direkt am Ruhrtalradweg und ist ein Ankerpunkt der Route Industriekultur im Ruhrgebiet sowie der Europaeischen Route der Industriekultur ERIH.
