Description

Die 58 Meter lange beleuchtete Gangway, die hoechste freistehende Rolltreppe Deutschlands, fuehrt seit August 2006 zum Besucherzentrum Ruhr in der ehemaligen Kohlenwaesche und zurueck auf das Gelaende der Zeche Zollverein Schacht XII in Essen. Architekten: OMA Rem Koolhaas, Rotterdam und Architektenbuero Boell und Krabel, Essen. Der Schacht XII der Zeche Zollverein wurde zwischen 1928 und 1932 von Fritz Schupp und Martin Kremmer gebaut, den damals fuehrenden Industriearchitekten des Ruhrgebiets. Seit Dezember 2001 gehoeren die Zeche und die Kokerei Zollverein zum Weltkulturerbe der UNESCO. Das Welterbe Zeche und Kokerei Zollverein ist ein Ankerpunkt mit Besucherzentrum nicht nur der Route Industriekultur im Ruhrgebiet sondern auch der Europaeischen Route der Industriekultur ERIH.
