Description

Ueber 100 Jahre lebten die Menschen im Dortmunder Stadtteil Derne im Schatten der Zeche, des Kraftwerks und der Kokerei Gneisenau. Die Anfaenge der Zeche gehen auf die 1855 in Neuss gegruendete Bohrgesellschaft Union zurueck. Das mittlerweile restaurierte Foerdergeruest von Schacht II (1885/1886) gehoert zur Bauart Tomson-Bock, einer Sonderform des englischen Bockgeruestes, die nach Eugen Tomson benannt wurde, dem Werksdirektor der Harpener Bergbau-AG auf Zeche Gneisenau von 1882 bis 1900. Es ist der einzige noch erhaltene Tomson-Bock im Ruhrgebiet und vermutlich das aelteste Foerdergeruest in Westfalen. Das 52 Meter hohe Doppelbockgeruest ueber Schacht IV (1933/34) bildet ein Wahrzeichen Dernes. Hier sind in den beiden Maschinenhaeusern auch noch die alten Zwillingsdampfmaschinen erhalten geblieben. Im Jahr 2008 ist die Industriebrache zu dem neuen Stadtteilpark Gneisenau Nord umgestaltet worden. Die Zeche Gneisenau gehoert zur Themenroute 6, Dreiklang Kohle Stahl Bier, der Route der Industriekultur im Ruhrgebiet.
