Description

Die Zentralkokerei Hansa ist die letzte erhaltene von 17 Kokereien, die waehrend des Rationalisierungsschubs in den 1920er Jahren entstanden. Als Zentralkokerei war sie Teil eines Produktionsverbundes von Bergwerk, Kokerei und Huettenwerk. 1992 stillgelegt befindet sich Hansa heute in der Obhut der Stiftung Industriedenkmalpflege und Geschichtskultur. Als begehbare Grossskluptur gewaehrt die Anlage ungewoehnliche Einblicke, unter anderem zu der imposanten Komressorenhalle mit ihren riesigen Maschinen und auf den Kohlenturm, der einen fazinierenden Panoramablick auf Dortmund bietet. Die Kokerei Hansa ist ein Ankerpunkt der Route Industriekultur und der Route Industrienatur. Industrienatur scheint zunaechst ein Widerspruch in sich selbst zu sein. Durch die industrielle Taetigkeit wurden im Ruhrgebiet viele Flaechen voellig veraendert: Wo zuvor Felder, Wiesen und Aeker waren, entstanden Zechen, Halden und Sthalwerke. Schon als die Werke noch in Betrieb waren, siedelten sich vereinzelt Pflanzen und Tiere neu an. Nach der Stillegung eroberte die Natur dann mit rasender Geschwindigkeit die Industriebrachen. Die besondere Mischung aus Planzen und Tieren, die sich an diesen Lebensraum heute gut angepasst haben wird Industrienatur genannt. Es gibt seltene Arten, eine farbenraechtige Bluetenfuelle sowie skurile Wuchsformen. Die besondere Schoenheit und Faszination der Brachen liegt in der eigenwilligen und ungewohnten Verbindung von Industrierelikten und wilder Natur.
