Description

Anfang 1990 wurde ein Wettbewerb auf dem Gelaende des abzubrechenden Zollhofes ausgeschrieben. Von 1996 bis 1998 wurden drei dekonstruktivistische Bauten nach Entwuerfen von Frank O. Gehry und Beucker, Maschlanka und Partner errichtet. Die drei Gebaeudekomplexe, der Neue Zollhof, erscheinen als Skulptur ohne Gesimse und Sockel. Auffallend ist die Kruemmung der Fassade mit einer fliessend, gewellten Oberflaeche. Der Rheinturm ist ein Fernsehturm in Duesseldorf. Mit 240,50 Metern ist er das hoechste Bauwerk der Stadt. Er praegt das Stadtbild und ist eines der Wahrzeichen von Duesseldorf.
