Description
Monasterio de nuestra Senora Santa Maria de las Cuevas better known as Monasterio de la Cartuja was built by Cartusian monks in the 15th century on the isle of Cartuja on river Guadalquivir in the surroundings of Seville. In the 1841 an English merchant transformed the monastery into a porcelain factory so many chimney stacks and kilns are still visible. The factory closed in the late 20th century.
