Am 6. Dezember 2009 wurde der Schwarze Diamant, ein Erweiterungsbau des Deutschen Bergbau Museums in Bochum fuer Sonderausstellungen, eroeffnet. Das Bauwerk mit seiner markanten tiefschwarzen und bei Sonneneinstrahlung glitzernden Fassade stellt sich als Schnitt durch ein Stollensystem dar. Die Internationale Bauausstellung Emscherpark, abgekuerzt IBA, organisierte 1999 erstmals eine Nacht der Industriekultur im Ruhrgebiet. 2001 lebte die Idee wieder als Extraschicht auf und wird seitdem jedes Jahr gefeiert. Von 18.00 Uhr abends bis 2.00 Uhr Nachts haben sich 47 einstige und jetzige Industriestandorte 2011 in fazinierende Spielstaetten fuer 200 Events verwandelt und mehr als 200 000 Besucher begeistert.
