Stone in the brick wall of the Southern lock indicating the construction year of this part of the lock 1738. Noorder- and Zuidersluis (Northern and Southern lock) in Schardam: over 700 years old. The Noorder- and Zuidersluis date back to the 14th century. At that time, these were still completely wooden constructions.
