Description
The Frimmersdorf power plant is a decommissioned lignite-fired power plant in the city of Grevenbroich. It was one of the largest coal-fired power plants in Germany and, in the early 1970s, the largest lignite-fired power plant in the world. It is located directly adjacent to the Garzweiler open pit mine and originally had 16 power plant units with an installed capacity of up to 2,400 Megawatts.
