Die Zeesenboote (oder Zeesboote, plattdeutsch) waren wegen ihres geringen Tiefgangs geradezu prädestiniert für das Fischen in den flachen Küsten- und Boddengewässern.Bis in die 1970er-Jahre wurden die Zeesboote auch in Mecklenburg für den Fischfang eingesetzt: Bei dieser ausgefallenen Fangtechnik ließ man das Boot quer zum Wind treiben. Zum Spreizen des Treibnetzes wurden zwei das Boot weit überragende Zeesbäume vorn und hinten befestigt. The Zeesenboote (or Zeesboote, flat-bottomed) were almost predestined for fishing in the shallow coastal and bodden waters. In the 1970s the Zeesboote was also used for fishing in Mecklenburg Boat drift across the wind. To spread the drift net, two zebra trees protruding from the boat were fastened to the front and rear.
