Der Welt-AIDS-Tag wird von der UNAIDS organisiert und findet am 1. Dezember statt. Der Welt-AIDS-Tag wurde erstmals 1988 von der WHO ausgerufen und von Anfang an unter ein besonderes Motto gestellt. Seitdem fand er jedes Jahr statt, seit 1996 wird er von der UNAIDS organisiert. Motto von 2005: "Fight AIDS, keep the promise!"
