Laut Beschreibung am Turm wurde dieser vermutlich um 1350 erbaut und erstmals um 1400 geschichtlich erwähnt. Der Diebsturm Lindau diente als Gefängnis und war Bestandteil der alten Stadtmauer. Weitere Bezeichnungen für diesen Turm sind: Körbler, Stadtknechtsturm und Malefizturm.
