Description
[A dry bulk freighter in ballast off the coast of Eilat, Israel. In the background: Arab Potash Company's facilities, Jordan] Freighters such as this vessel are routinely used for transporting potash extracted at the Dead Sea. "Dead Sea Works" is the world's fourth largest producer and supplier of potash products. Situated in Israel, one of the company's operations is the exportation of the mineral via the Red Sea. The warehouse and the loading facility belonging to the company (not pictured) are located in close proximity of this anchored ship. Across the bay, in Jordan, the "Arab Potash Company" runs a very similar operation. The Jordanian facilities in the background are rendered in adequate detail.
