Description
Mt Tomaree is lush covered volcanic rock that rises 120 metres above sea level and marks the sosuthern entrance to Port Stephens which is larger than Sydney harbour. The walk to the summit is steep but worth the 360 views to Zenith, Wreck, Box and Fingal beaches and spit to the south, Shoal Bay, Nelson Bay to the west and Windy Woppa and Jimmy's beach and beyond to the north. It is the only place in NSW with outcrops of the acid volcanic rock rhyodacite.
