Description
The classic view of Mount Everest (Chomolungma / Sagarmatha) from the top of Kala Patthar (5645m). To the right of the Everest’s top is its South Summit and then the ridge drops to the South Col. Left of Sagarmatha is its West Shoulder where the ridge drops to Lho La before rising again towards Khumbutse. Below the two, on the Khumbu Glacier’s turn, is the standard location of the Everest Base Camp. On the other side of the Lho Pass - which is a low point on the main Himalayan ridge and marks the border between Nepal and Tibet - high above it, is Changtse connected to Everest by the highest mountain’s North Ridge. Below the West Shoulder a small part of the dramatically looking Khumbu Icefall is seen, with its major part hidden behind the ridge belonging to Nuptse, which is right of the frame, not in sight here although well visible from Kala Patthar. Autumn trekking season. Solukhumbum, Everest Base Camp Trek, Everest Region, Nepal.
