Die Saale ist ein Fluss in Bayern, Thüringen und Sachsen-Anhalt. Mit einer Länge von 413 Kilometern ist sie nach der Moldau der zweitlängste Nebenfluss der Elbe. Mit einem mittleren Abfluss von 115 m³/s nimmt sie gemeinsam mit der Havel ebenfalls Platz zwei hinter der Moldau unter den wasserreichsten Nebenflüssen ein.
