Der Braunbär Wojtek wurde während des Zweiten Weltkriegs von den Soldaten des II. Polnischen Corps adoptiert, das gemeinsam mit den Westalliierten kämpfte. Während der Schlacht um Monte Cassino trug er schwere Granaten über das Schlachtfeld. Das Denkmal in Edinburgh würdigt die polnischen Soldaten und erinnert an den Bären. - The Brown Bear Wojtek accompanied the II Polish Corps, which fought with the Western Allied in World War II. During the Battle of Monte Cassino, in Italy in 1944, Wojtek helped move crates of ammunition. The memorial in Edinburgh dignifies to the brave Polish Soldiers and remember to Wojtek.
