The Gendarmenmarkt is a square in Berlin, and the site of the Konzerthaus and the French and German Cathedrals. The centre of the Gendarmenmarkt is crowned by a statue of Germany's poet Friedrich Schiller. Das Schiller-Denkmal am Gendarmenmarkt, im Hintergrund der Treppenaufgang des Konzerthauses. Der Gendarmenmarkt wird oft als schönster Platz Berlins bezeichnet. An diesem Platz befinden sich außerdem Schinkels prächtiges Konzerthaus, die französische Kirche und direkt gegenüber die deutsche Kirche, die eine Kopie der französischen Kirche ist.
