Description

Bis zur ihrer Vereinigung mit der unmittelbar benachbarten Zeche Nachtigall im Jahre 1854, hatte die Zeche Theresia bereits seit 1728 Kohle gefoerdert. 1892 wurde sie stillgelegt. Erhalten geblieben sind einige Betriebsgebaeude, wie das Maschinen- und Kesselhaus. Das Gelaende wird heute von dem sehr engagierten Verein Muttenthalbahn e.V. fuer ein Gruben- und Feldbahn-Museum genutzt. Besucher koennen bislang nur auf einer Strecke von wenigen hundert Metern Eisenbahnromantik geniessen. Kuenftig soll die Museumsbahn jedoch noch weiter rollen. Dann geht die Fahrt vorbei an der Zeche Theresia zur Zeche Nachtigall, und von dort im großen Bogen zum Besucherstollen im Muttental. Das Gruben- und Feldbahn-Museum ist Teil der Themenroute 12, Geschichte und Gegenwart der Ruhr, der Route Industriekultur im Ruhrgebiet.
