Das Zisterzienserkloster Chorin am Rande des Biosphärenreservats Schorfheide-Chorin in Brandenburg wurde 1258 gegründet und 1542 säkularisiert. Bis ins späte 17. Jh. verfiel der wertvolle Backsteinbau und wurde als Steinbruch benutzt. In der Romantik wurde die Ruine wiederentdeckt und in der zweiten Hälfte des 20. Jh. umfassend restauriert. - The former Cistercian monastery Chorin was founded in 1258 and is situated within the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve. The buildings decayed after the secularisation in the 16th century. The ruins was rediscovered at the beginning of the 19th century and was restored in the second half of the 20th century.
